The film “Songs of Injustice”, which will be released in December, has already been praised by critics.

The Chilean band Crisálida is featured in the documentary “Songs of Injustice: Heavy Metal Music in Latin America”, which focuses on the community dedicated to metal in Mexico, Chile, Argentina and Peru and how the socio-political characteristics of each of these countries have transformed music into a means of reporting problems far beyond their borders.

According to Díaz Varas, scholar from the Florida International University, USA:

“Having met CRISÁLIDA has been one of the highlights of my research experience. Their musical production is internationally known for the quality of composition and musicality (…) It clearly reflects the links with the local history of the Americas and Chile in particular. I do not exaggerate when affirming that they are ambassadors of the Chilean culture in the whole world “

Nelson Díaz Varas, Director of ‘Songs of Injustice’ .

Groups such as Flor de Loto from Peru, Tren Loco from Argentina and Acrania from Mexico are also part of the film which has been praised at specialized festivals and will be released during this month in Chile. Varas also directed the documentary ‘The Metal Islands: Culture, History and Politics in Caribbean Heavy Metal Music’ (2016) and ‘The Distorted Island: Heavy Metal Music and Community in Puerto Rico’ (2014).

Meanwhile, Crisálida continues working on the successor to the successful album “Terra Ancestral” (2015), which received a Pulsar prize for best metal record of the year. This new production will be based on the story of cerro El Plomo child, whose mummified remains near the 15th century were found in perfect condition at more than 5400 meters high in the Andes mountain range in 1954.

The band, currently composed by Damián Agurto (guitarist), Braulio Aspé (bass), Felipe Cortés (drummer), and Cinthia Santibáñez (vocalist) will perform at various dates in Chile, including an opening show for the Norwegian band Leprous, in March of 2019.
